Thomson Reuters announced the latest releases of the ONESOURCE Indirect Tax global software suite. Designed to help global companies deal with thousands of indirect tax and VAT changes a year, these product enhancements focus on leveraging existing systems while increasing the speed and accuracy of the indirect tax compliance process.
Determination 5.5
Offers several new features that enable you to dynamically assign a product to a transaction, including associating an ERP tax code to a tax result and returning it to the source system. In addition, the release includes new configuration web services, an enhanced user interface to efficiently navigate Determination, and new logic for calculating tax for Brazil ICMS tax substitution.

FEATURES
- The new Product Qualifiers feature enables Determination to automatically assign a product code or commodity code and/or a transaction type on an incoming transaction - and even override an existing code on a transaction.
- Tax Code Qualifiers is a new feature that permits you to define and apply your own ERP tax code to each tax result. The ERP tax code is applied automatically to the tax result by the tax calculation process and returned to the ERP to meet the G/L account posting requirements.
- New configuration web services enable data integration with user accounts, companies, product mappings, established authorities, and an extension of the previously released ECM Web Service that expands control of certificate data related to certificate use, authorities and exempt reasons.
- Building on existing Brazil support, Determination 5.5 adds the logic to calculate tax for Brazil ICMS Tax Substitution (ICMS-ST). This is a tax on the sale or purchase of goods as part of a specific segment of the supply chain lifecycle, including the anticipated mark-up of the manufacturer selling to a distributor or reseller.
- The addition of the QuickLinks feature provides an improved user experience to efficiently navigate Determination. QuickLinks enables you to define your own links that ultimately help simplify navigation to the pages of Determination you frequent the most.

Integration for SAP 5.2.0.0B (Basic US/CA)
Includes simplification to the install and setup process, a comprehensive documentation overhaul, and resolution to known issues.
Highlights of Integration for SAP 5.2.0.0
- Most code objects are now included in a set of four transports: Forty-field append (Basic/Enhanced), global implementation appends, code, and enhancement points (Enhanced), five-user field appends (Enhanced), and a Brazil template (Enhanced).
- Enablement of the ERP_TAX_CODE element that allows this value to be returned to the RFC structure for later pickup by custom ABAP code and implemented by clients or consulting services. Adding the ERP_TAX_CODE element to this release is important since Determination 5.5 provides a new tax code qualifier feature which allows you to define a unique ERP_TAX_CODE in OUTPUT XML (Enhanced only).
- Five user attributes can now be appended to the RFC return structure and enabled via a Java based post-calculation feature. This allows mapping of Determination output data back to any of the five fields (Enhanced only).
- China introduced a new provincial tax for Shanghai which is expected to be expanded to all provinces. This release enables this new law (Enhanced only).
- Brazil is supported through the use as a code template. If you need to use the Brazil logic, please review the local Brazilian laws, requirements, and implementation needs while working with our consulting services (Enhanced only).
