Introduction (Plus Hands-On Exercise)
The training will begin with a general overview of functionality and how to navigate through the input and report screens in ONESOURCE TaxStream Provision including a hands-on manual entry exercise of a federal provision along with a review of the critical reports.
State Issues (Plus Hands-On Exercise)
This section focuses on state provision concepts, such as adjustments to the federal taxable income, actual vs. blended state rates, and apportionment rates. The federal benefit of state, state tax adjustment, and state after-tax temporary difference calculations will be demonstrated and the migration from blended state to state by state provision will be discussed. The section will conclude with a hands-on state exercise to apply the state concepts and view the applicable reports.
System Administration
This section offers and explanation of how to establish, modify, and delete category items such as the master list of Datasets, Units, Permanent Differences, Temporary Differences and how to import the Categories template. Category items are the foundation of ONESOURCE TaxStream Provision set-up.
Deferred Roll forward Schedule (Plus Hands-On Exercise)
This section provides a detailed study of the deferred tax roll forward report focused on the set-up and administration of this schedule. It will cover the set-up of roll forward source codes, description columns, and a best practice approach to the design of the report.
Rollup (Plus Hands-On Exercise)
This section covers the rollup functionality to group adjustments for both the deferred and effective tax rate reports. These groupings are used for various reports to include a 10K
Spreadsheet Import Exercise (Plus Hands-On Exercise)
In this section, we will review an alternative method of entering data into ONESOURCE TaxStream Provision through Excel. This section explains the use of the import spreadsheets to populate the numbers within TaxStream and minimize the manual input. A hands-on importing spreadsheet exercise will be part of this discussion.
RTP Import (Plus Hands-On Exercise)
This section discusses the return to provision module and explains a suggested methodology for representing the provision entries in ONESOURCE TaxStream Provision. A demonstration will be given to illustrate the entries into ONESOURCE TaxStream Provision and the results will be reviewed.
Bridge Process and Trial Balance Import (Plus Hands-On Exercise)
This section explains the ONESOURCE TaxStream Provision data bridge and how it can be used to automate the flow of information from general ledger accounts to TaxStream. We will cover account mapping, extract file requirements, and how to use the standard bridge. A discussion on how to best determine the practical use of this process will occur.
Estimated Payments and Liability (Plus Hands-On Exercise)
This section explains the Estimated Payment module used to compute payments due with federal and state extensions and quarterly estimates as well as the sharing of data between the tax provision and liability module. The focus is on the re-use of data captured as part of the quarterly close to meet quarterly compliance requirements. It will include a discussion of the use of liability module to track activity in taxes payable account across multiple years, units, taxing jurisdictions.
Remote Data Collection Module
This section gives an overview of the web-based Remote Data Collection Module. This tool is ideal for replacing tax packages and gathering information from multiple locations. Information entered into the Remote Data Collection Module will automatically feed into ONESOURCE TaxStream Provision in a real time process greatly enhancing the global tax reporting process.
Mock Parallel (Plus Hands-On Exercise)
The training will conclude with an in-depth hands-on case study that simulates the migration from an Excel based provision into ONESOURCE TaxStream Provision. This applies the knowledge acquired throughout the two days.
